Screenprinting

All of my prints are initially produced using the screenprint process in the printmaking studio. Screenprinting involves using a rubber squegee to pass water-based ink through a mesh stencil on to paper. Each colour has to be individually mixed and applied using separate screens. It is an exciting, dynamic, time-consuming (and at times frustrating) process which always produces unexpected results in the ways colours and shapes combine to form the final image.

Giclee prints

The Giclee prints are then printed from a very high resolution digital scan using ink-jet printing. They are printed on 315gsm 100% cotton archival paper using colour-fast inks so the print won’t fade over time.

I have gone to great lengths to ensure that the Giclee prints are as close a match as possible to the original screenprints.
